Mr. Pat Mulcahy has been teaching 和 coaching (和 driving a bus!在过去的22个学年里,他一直在esball世博大学任教.
你的教育背景是什么?
PM: BA in Philosophy from Catholic University of America (Washington DC), 1986; MEd in 课程 和 Instruction, 芝加哥洛约拉大学, 1996; Type 75 Administrative Certification, 罗耀拉大学.

PM: I taught for 10 years at three different schools. For six years prior to coming to Fenwick (1990-1996), I taught Math 和 Theology at Archbishop Quigley Prep in downtown Chicago. 我还担任过几个行政职务, 包括神学主席, 体育指导员, 也是学校的esball世博主任.

PM: Watching my kids 和 students grow up 和 get launched into their adult lives; reading, attending lectures; 和 learning more about interreligious dialogue, 经济学, 历史与政治. 我也喜欢游泳和食物.

PM: I swam (butterfly) 和 played baseball (right field 和 pitcher) for four years. I also ran cross country freshman year 和 played golf for three years.

What sports/clubs are you involved in at Fenwick?
PM: I have coached boys swimming for a total of 14 years 和 was the head sophomore baseball coach for 12 years. I have also coached boys 和 girls cross country, boys water polo 和 girls swimming in my 22 years at Fenwick. 最重要的是,我开公共汽车!

What qualities do you see in Fenwick students?

PM: I grew up on the South Side of Chicago raised by a single mother with a Chicago Public High School education. PM: What I value most are the relationships that I have been privileged to have with both the students 和 athletes in my 32 year career as a teacher, 教练和管理员.

PM: The privilege 和 honor of walking with thous和s of adolescents for a part of their journey at a very pivotal 和 often confusing time of life. 也, I have been honored to work with a number of outst和ing colleagues who were totally dedicated to Catholic education.

你认为最大的挑战是什么?
PM: 现代生活无情的节奏. We just keep adding more 和 more expectations to students, 和 I see it taking an unacceptable toll on their well-being.  T在这里 doesn’t seem to be any time to be a kid anymore.

你是如何激励学生的?
PM: 你必须对你所做的事情充满激情. I think my students would describe me that way. You also have to realize that what you are doing is not going to be on the top ten list in the life of any student you are teaching. 我们的工作就是播种.  Hopefully, somew在这里 down the line, some of that seed will produce a rich harvest. 我们可能永远也看不到. 在这方面,我们就像摩西在山上. I hope I convey to my students that I care about them as people. As the old adage goes, “I don’t care how much you know until I know how much you care.” I hope my students leave 在这里 knowing that they are loved more than they can possibly imagine 和 have been called by God to greatness, which consists of bringing a little more love 和 精神上的 wisdom into a world that needs it more than ever at this moment in history.

PM: Hindu Temple/Indian Restaurant field trips, Rabbi Bob visits 和 meditations in the Chapel.
